The Alden Community Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars® was chartered in 1998 by a group of community volunteers, spearheaded by an Alum of the Alden Central High School Class of 1962. The purpose of having established this Foundation is to provide annual Scholarship Awards to the Graduates of Alden High School and, in so doing, provide the opportunity for these students to pursue their dreams and goals of higher education. The Alden Community Scholarship Foundation is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt and publicly supported 501(c)(3) Charity organization.
The Alden Community Scholarship Foundation is affiliated with Scholarship America®, a national non-profit student aid service organization, and its Dollars for Scholars program. Under the Dollars for Scholars program, the matching Collegiate Partners to the Alden Community Scholarship Foundation -- and through Scholarship America, provide the opportunity for an increased Scholarship by matching the original award.
The Alden Community Scholarship Foundation is administered by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of Alden High School Alumni, Alden and Western New York community members, Alden Central School District Teachers and Staff, and Parents.

The Alden Community Scholarship Foundation annually awards its own Scholarship - the Alden Community Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars Award, from monies raised through the annual 5K Race for Scholarships and from direct donations through its Annual Appeal. In addition, the Alden Community Scholarship Foundation awards the Dr. Richard E. Gilbert Alden Alumni Scholarship on behalf of all former Graduates of Alden High School as well as the Anthony J. Agone Memorial Music Scholarship on behalf of a Graduate of Alden High School pursuing a career in the field of musical arts.
Further, the Alden Community Scholarship Foundation administers annual Scholarship Awards for other Alden community organizations and families, as well as the administration of Endowed and Memorial Scholarships. Presently, there are Sixteen (16) Endowed Scholarships and Sixteen (16) individual community Scholarships that come under the umbrella of the Alden Community Scholarship Foundation and are awarded each year at Senior Awards Night. The Alden Community Scholarship Foundation assumes the responsibility for the oversight and management of all of these annual Scholarship Awards.
The Alden Community Scholarship Foundation encourages all members of the Alden Community to participate in our meetings and give back to deserving High School seniors. Our meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30PM in the Alden High School Distance Learning Lab (With the exception of December, July and August). Please consider joining our organization and giving back to students who are deserving of financial assistance to further their education.
